Notes and Comments
Geelong used to be unbeatable in their home stadium in Geelong. I say that because the AFL also makes them play “home” games at the MCG. Their home stadium is in Kardinia Park and gets renamed depending on the sponsor. Real fans just call it Kardinia Park. Anyhoo, they’ve lost this year to GWS and Brisbane and that’s more losses in half a season than they lose in most years.
Speaking of GWS, they did a great job of coming back against Gold Coast. The Suns took the lead early and it looked like they were going to beat the Giants easily, but GWS turned things around and ended up winning at the end. Maybe this is a sign of their slide reversing?
The big surprise of the week was Carlton losing to North Melbourne. The Blues are in freefall and there are rumours about the coach losing his job. There are other rumours about them trading their best player and rebuilding. The situation is that bad.
Collingwood just keeps rolling. If they do not win the Premiership this year, all the Pies fans will declare this season to be a disaster. Granted, there are other teams that could beat them on any given day, but expectations are through the roof now.
Next week, we have four teams on bye: Geelong, Brisbane, Essendon, and GWS. That should get everyone back to even on games except for Essendon and Gold Coast, who still have to make up the game missed due to Tropical Cyclone Arthur.
The Tipping Contest is still close! No damage at the top, but others have started to catch up. Very well done, everyone!
If you are a member of an AFL club or you got a Watch AFL membership, you should be able to watch every AFL and AFLW game, including replays. Game times vary between Australian afternoon and evening, which actually makes it easier for us in North America to watch as the games can be seeing in the evenings on Pacific Time and early mornings on Eastern time.
If you haven’t become a member of a club or signed up for the Watch AFL app, you can still watch the AFL and AFLW games in the USA on either FS1 or FS2 and in Canada on TSN. Showtimes can be found here on the Australian Football Association of North America website. But I do recommend that you join a club. It’s fun and they send you free shit.
See you next week!

Do you guys use AI assistants?
ah ain’t even know them’s was a thing until, like, 4 days ago
My AI assistant just constantly complains about practice. Is there a dial you can adjust? I’m willing to turn it up to 11, if need be.
An AI assistant is a software application that utilizes artificial intelligence to provide information and perform tasks, often mimicking human assistance. These assistants understand natural language (both voice and text) and can be used for a wide range of functions, from scheduling and answering questions to automating tasks and even providing creative assistance.
Yes
Today is another one of those stupid days where I have to go places and do things.
OMG! I went somewhere today!*
*it was to the warehouse and I spent some time in the fridge because it’s so cool in there.
Fuck. Yes.
Ten years is long enough. Let’s start only doing Taco Bell ads.
I can do better than that.
**Patiently waits for yeah right’s Taco Bell Ad**
“Kalua” is Hawaiian for “hobo”
Can’t wait for the “Bell Grande Long Pork Stuffed Chalupa”

That man has enough skin on his face to cover the Chrysler Building.
Let’s not give you know who* any ideas.
*not so subtly gestures toward Ontario, Canada*
He’s got the face of “Too Much Ozempic, Too Soon”.
Wish I had a score worm for that GWS- Gold Coast game.
Oh wait, I do!

Yup, we’ve settled into the portion of the schedule where Essendon plays against teams that are significantly better than them and loses accordingly.
I’d say a good 15% of the time I spend listening in business conversations is spent on hearing the other person explain why they were wrong. Like, “Do I put this on the left or the right?” I answer, “The left.”
And then you’d expect that’d be the end of it. I get, “Oh okay because I was thinking maybe it was the right or I remember one time we did left but I was remembering how you said there is a thing completely unrelated to this that is like the opposite of everything I’m suppose to do and I think you said to them that I use the left and they use the right. But if it was the other way, I just wanted to make sure I got it right. So I’ll use the left and the old ones that have the left I won’t need to go check those then, right? Or should I….? [realizes they are actually starting to think and this is dangerous territory] I’m just gonna do left then. Thank you. Thanks a lot! Thanks. I got that from here. Just wanted to clarify for those…this one. Thanks. Okay then.”
Like, I want to disqualify you because, even though you came and confirmed the correct answer, you did it the wrong way.
“You said the left, right?”
Who’s on first?
Exactly.
I was going to recommend the old leadership tip about asking for a brief back to ensure understanding but with those types that simply prolongs your agony.
Got a freind or relative who lives in NYC?
Here’s a gift idea for them:

Welp. My return trip from Roma has hit a snag. The kind I really hate after a long day. The Italian train system “tilt” as they call it. Me and these poor hundreds of souls been stuck now over 45 minutes.
And it’s butt hawt.

That sucks. We got stuck on the Tube in London once, felt like hours but was probably only 30 minutes or so.
Richard Gere’s gerbil went through that too.
I thought the problem was that the gerbil got stuck, not through.
I forget the deets, should probably rewatch the documentary.

I got stuck once in the Gottard (35km long) tunnel in Switzerland on a trip up to Germany. I was in a rental car that apparently had the latest EU sound system and emergency broadcast compliant radio. When traffic came to a stop I was listening to a CD. The radio took over and broadcast in four languages to stay calm, and turn off the engine after moving to the far left or right of the lane clearing the middle for the emergency vehicles.
Boy talk about big brother.
