Notes and Comments
My Cats got a big win at home against the Crows in what was their 15th consecutive home win against them. The Crows have not won in Geelong since 2003. The Cats have now beaten Fremantle and Adelaide while falling to Gold Coast. Not bad for a really difficult start to the season as all three teams are high quality.
Surprisingly, West Coast v Port Adelaide was your game of the week! West Coast is looking a lot better than before. This win was huge. However, they need to follow it up with another good effort next week. They don’t want to be like North that got a good win and then lost like usual the next week.
The GWS Giants game was painful to watch for many reasons. Their health, which wasn’t great to start the season, is getting worse. Moreover, the games are getting away from them. If they continue down this road, this promising season will slip away.
A fun little unknown backdrop to the Brisbane-St. Kilda game was that the coaches and organizations don’t like each other. That rivalry played out on the field as the Lions thoroughly beat the Saints and I’m sure they felt pretty happy about it too.
Finally, the schedule for next week is almost full as the only teams on bye are GWS and St. Kilda. It could not come at a better time for the Giants. Hopefully they get healthy.
It was a great week for Yeah Right AGAIN in the AFL Tipping Competition as he AGAIN got the most picks correct and is now tied with Spam for first place. Sharkbait fell back one spot while I’m all the way back in last place. Not great for the guy that writes these things! Don’t forget to put the tips in!
If you are a member of an AFL club or you got a Watch AFL membership, you should be able to watch every AFL and AFLW game, including replays. Game times vary between Australian afternoon and evening, which actually makes it easier for us in North America to watch as the games can be seeing in the evenings on Pacific Time and early mornings on Eastern time.
If you haven’t become a member of a club or signed up for the Watch AFL app, you can still watch the AFL and AFLW games in the USA on either FS1 or FS2 and in Canada on TSN. Showtimes can be found here on the Australian Football Association of North America website. But I do recommend that you join a club. It’s fun and they send you free shit.
See you next week!
