If I’m being honest…historically speaking at least…I’ve always preferred Conference Champs Sunday (CCS) to Superb Owl Sunday (SBS). The reasons are simple…
- SBS – 1 game : CCS – 2 games
- SBS – Too many ppl at party more interested in commercials than football : CCS – Zero Douches
- SBS – Game usually sucks* : CCS – Games usually competitive**
*Less true recently.
**Who the hell knows given this year’s playoffs thus far?
Anyway, the reasons don’t matter. As far as NFL playoff football, Conference Championship Sunday has always been my favorite day of the season.

The NHL is rolling now. But holy crap…..did you see this? Sheesh, what a game. That’s what I get for talking junk about the Pens last week I guess. Six….count ’em….SIX 2nd period goals allowed after jumping out to a 3-0 lead. WTG Caps. Thanks. (also I may or may not have made up some new profanity during that game…shut up WCS!!!!)
NBA is beginning to find shape. And would you look at Golden State? I mean we all knew they were one of the favs in the Pacific, but they’ve been steady throughout and are currently looking to pull away. Atlanta is also still hanging in in the East. And check out Boston, too.
College Basketball is still annoying even though Duke Sucks. NC State finally broke their heinous losing streak, btw. Thank god….I was seeking more vodka and razor blades than could be manufactured.

I like NPR bc I feel like they interview fairly grounded people (as opposed to local news who looks for the craziest mother fucker in the crowd and then goes and asks him why he’s dressed a huge yellow lightning bolt at a meeting to build the Chargers a new stadium). I also read a quite liberal journalist’s blog (he’s all about the fire and brimstone now) and, reading the comments — which continue to be a war between ‘Bernie would have won’ and ‘If you voted for Jill Stein/Gary Johnson/Bernie/Your Dog then you voted to kill the environment’ — I only wonder, how far would one strong direct statement by Obama condoning Wall Street had been?
For example, Wells Fargo, as a result of their predatory lending and illegal foreclosure practices, was court-ordered to make $X in loans to certain areas of the country that they preyed upon during the bubble. The court order, of course, got little news traction and, as WF carried out the lending programs, they ran an ad campaign that said, “We know how hard the recession has been for American communities. That is why we’re here to make the loans to get you back on your feet.” THEY CAPITALIZED ON THEIR PUNISHMENT!
Now, imagine for a second that this same scenario happens under Trump. All that credit that belongs to a Trump Justice Dept being poached by the marketing bosses at WF. With one fucking Tweet — “WF is loaning the money bc I’m making them, not bc they’re good guys. All credit goes to me and Judge White!” — and Americans go, “Hey! Fuck yeah! The government is taking the side of the middle class common joe today! I’d better remember this good will come election time!”
All of this is good, except that the Trump Justice Department would never make Wells Fargo do a damn thing. Trump is predatory. Wells Fargo is predatory. Game respect game.

Some of the wealthiest, Republican-leaning districts in America ended up voting for Hillary. I mean, Hillary BARELY won those districts, but still. There’s a significant number of rich conservative folks that couldn’t vote for Trump. By contrast, if you look at districts full of mostly poor and working class white folks, they voted for Trump in percentages greater than they normally vote for Republican candidates.
