Have been reading alternate history for the last bit, but the latest pending OMFG!! Snowpacolypse!!1111 is proof positive that the Confederate States of America could nae have ever made it.
I’ve thought about if the CSA won the war. My theory is regardless of what that CSA Documentary said, they wouldn’t have overthrown the Union. They didn’t want the North, they just wanted the rights of the States to overrule the rights of the Federal Government. They didn’t have the resources to take out the North.
We would’ve had border skirmishes, but no further Civil Wars. CSA would’ve overthrown Mexico and Central America for resources, expansion and more slaves. World War I would’ve had the USA and CSA both join the allied side as the German Navy would’ve hurt the CSA ships too. US and CS troops fighting together would’ve helped to heal divisions causing by the Civil War.
The Industrial Revolution, plus international pressure would help slowly turn the tide against slavery. After forced to use slaves as troops in WW2 and watching how they fought the Axis, it would’ve been a watershed moment where the end of slavery wouldn’t be a matter of if, but when, which occurred in the 1950s. Blacks wouldn’t be equals, but they would have limited rights in the CSA which would slowly improve over time.
USA and CSA would both exist today, but as close allies, like England and France. When the Towers fell on 9/11, the CSA went there to help clear the rubble. When Hurricanes hit the coast, the USA is there to help. We would essentially be brothers in different houses. There would even be a small minority in both sides talking about the laughable concept of reunifying the countries back into one.

So yesterday night after a long week, I decided to watch the latest episode of “Titans”. It was Hawk and Dove’s origin story so I thought it was a nice breather and a way to wind down from a tiring week. I was wrong. So…so wrong.

So I’ve been on the pre-op diet for my gastric bypass surgery since Wednesday. Life on beef broth, sugar-free gelatin, protein shakes, cherry tomatoes, and 4 ounces of lean meat/day is quite a changeup from the diet of junk I’ve been stuffing down my maw for decades. Of course it’s made worse when youse guys come in here with tales of the delicious meals you’re cooking up.
