Your “Halloween Shows Up Early” Friday Evening Open Thread

Sorry not sorry.  That’s just the way it goes sometimes.

Normally, I do this theme for Halloween.  But looking at the calendar I’m going to miss it by a day this year.  It’s on a Thursday and doing it six days early seems stupid.

Though I still have to think of something for 1 November I guess.

But fortunately, today is a Friday the 13th.

And a lot of folks like to watch horror films on Friday the 13th.  Plus I can re-use a banner image from last year.  Thank you Photoshop!!!!!

So we’re doing Scary Sexy Cosplay  tonight.

My Julius Isn’t Ded!!!!!

OK, first let me point out that is not a euphemism.  But I probably need to explain.

A few years ago I got into the habit of feeding my ducks in the backyard twice a day.  Then the squirrels got wise to it and started coming to get theirs.

The ducks, unfortunately, have since died (male) or disappeared (female).

And I do not feed the geese.  Fuck those assholes.

Anywhooooooo….

The squirrels had continued to come and get their fill.  For a long time it was as many as 7 or 8 at a time.  Then a couple of months ago the numbers started to dwindle.  And then I noticed that the hawks were hanging around.  Then the last squirrel standing was my Julius.  He’s a newbie.  And he’s (almost) tame.  When I’m out in the garage doing stuff he’ll come in and hide under Dave and peek out at me from behind the front tire.  Then I giggle a little.  Then I feed him.

We’ve gotten to be friends.  I would feed him, then he’d leave and go back up his tree.

Well, Julius had not shown up for the past week.  Maybe a little more.  I kinda figured he had gotten eaten.  It happens.

This morning I was in the garage doing some stuff.  I turned around and there he is.  My Julius.  After being MIA for at least a week.  He was peeking up from under Dave.  Staring me down for food.  I won’t lie, that was the happiest moment of my week this week.

Then he went back up his tree.

But cover your ass Julius.  The hawks are still out there.
