Notes and Comments

Somehow, some way, the St. Kilda Saints are in a finals position! It took the AFL expanding the finals field for the Saints’ customary 10th place finish to give them a shot at glory!

This is now the part of the season where we start looking at the remaining games to see how the final places will play out. The Cats had the toughest schedule to date and now have the easiest run home. If they can get by the Pies this week, a finals shot is all but assured and they may even get a bye.

Meanwhile, the Dockers continue showing everyone that has any hopes of winning the Premiership that it’s theirs to lose. Another strong showing virtually assures them off winning the regular season title.

Collingwood won again and this time it was IN Adelaide, which was no small feat. They are on the rise and this week’s game against Geelong will probably decide who gets a bye in finals.

Sydney got back on the winning side against a deleted GWS side. It appears season is over for the Giants. Mathematically, they are still in it, but it’s hard to see them overcoming both Carlton and St. Kilda.

One important note: AFLW is starting soon!! If you like the sport and you want to see athletic ladies play it at the highest level, you need to check it out! This weekend, there is a special Australia v Ireland game that will be held in Sydney. You should be able to watch it using the Watch AFL app!

Finally, Spam did not have a bad week and maintains a 3 game lead over second place. Still time to catch him, so don’t forget to put the tips in!

If you are a member of an AFL club or you got a Watch AFL membership, you should be able to watch every AFL and AFLW game, including replays. Game times vary between Australian afternoon and evening, which actually makes it easier for us in North America to watch as the games can be seeing in the evenings on Pacific Time and early mornings on Eastern time.

If you haven’t become a member of a club or signed up for the Watch AFL app, you can still watch the AFL and AFLW games in the USA on either FS1 or FS2 and in Canada on TSN. Showtimes can be found here on the Australian Football Association of North America website. But I do recommend that you join a club. It’s fun and they send you free shit.

See you next week!

Zac Taylor wrote “6-11” to motivate and anger his players for the upcoming season. Personally, I would’ve used AI stories of trade demands and pictures of Joe Burrow in other teams’ jerseys.

SonOfSpam

If he wrote “86-11” the FBI would’ve arrested him for threatening to kill Jim Everett.

blaxabbath

Director Chud himself would have shown up drunk to podcast about the arrest personally.

The heavens just opened up and dropped a gift in my kitty’s lap, in the form of a small bird that crashed into the patio glass door.

Is that DraftKings’ new advertising slogan?

Isn’t nature beautiful?

Not sure if this link will work, but, it’s good to see Marc Trestman’s new business venture is succeeding.

My doctor: “So your bad cholesterol is way down, but still higher than I’d like (it’s literally right on the high end of normal), so I’d like to try an additional medication. Are you good with that?”

Me: (eating ribs and onion rings). “Sure. Can’t think of anything else that would do it.”

BrettFavresColonoscopy

We have so much more advanced medical technology than our great grandparents, but their doctors would recommend a brand of cigarettes and prescribe them opium. Who can say which is better?

Waiter: “Hello Mr. Cornblower, will you be having the usual?”

Horatio: “Yes please, two racks and a tower of onion rings please.”

Waiter: [yelling into the kitchen] “One Order of Slurp and Burp for the lawyer fella.”

Line Cook: [shaking his head] “That’s the third time this week! He’s more saturated fat than man at this point. [tosses ribs into the deep fryer] He loves those ribs crispy.”

…and Shemar Stewart is ded and JaMarr Chase got into a fight with CB #3, roughly one hour into Training Camp. Perfect, just perfect.

“I think you’ll find that, in the fine print of the contract, the player’s funeral expenses are his own problem.”

Yeah, I don’t think a knee is supposed to bend that way…

Yeah, that’s the beginning of an opiate addiction right there.

Just got off a call with another attorney, and any day you can use the phrase “her treatment is all mystical bullshit” is a good day, even if it is pouring out.

Ah yes Essendon, back on form.

Not just back to their normal ways, but getting prison-bitched in the process!

They do seem to have truly broken GWS though. A little bit of revenge for this one:

I was at that game and caught one of Jesse’s goals.

I am genuinely glad you got to enjoy it, though every other aspect of that game was quite horrible from my perspective.
