Lesser Playoffs and Other Footed Ball Matters

Inter Milan get the banner pic, thanks to their Meastly performance at midweek.  No shame on Barca (except the club President’s bitchy attitude afterwards), that was just as good as The Footy ever gets.  God, I hope they beat PSG.  Narrator – They would NOT beat PSG.

As the stakes-less Prem schedule limps to a finish (you get Whitey hosting the Toffees at 10:00, Cherries/Villa at 12:30), do take note of the promotion playoffs in the Championship and below.

Not wishing to live outside my own moral instruction, I am typing this as I watch Friday’s matchup between Sunderland and Coventry City (winner certain to face Team Knifey in the playoff final).  Somehow, I had forgotten that Frank Lampard took the lead chair at Urban Wiccans, but there he was, on mah teevee.  Apparently, there is some bad blood between these clubs, thanks to some “final match fuckery” back in the late 70s, where Coventry sandbagged the end of a 2-2 Draw to send Sunderland (having lost 2-nil at Goodison Park like 10 minutes earlier) down.  Holding grudges is GOOD for the soul, sometimes our bitterness is all that keeps one alive.

Anyway, the match was a bit shit.  But a Black Cat counterattack broke the deadlock in the 68th minute.  With the return leg at The Stadium of Light (kewl name, bruh), Coventry seemed proper fucked.  Just not quite as fucked as Bristol City.  But an immediate reaction at 70′ and we are level again!  After Inter/Barca, one should never make in-match predictions.  Looked like we would stay level, but a shocking error (giveaway in midfield) led to a Black Cats winner that…my black (ok, black and grey) cat could have scored.  So, Urban Wiccans are proper fucked after all.

League 1 gets the early bird today, with Leyton Orient hosting Stockport County (7:30, Paramount+).  One certainly presumes that Coach Parcells favoUrs the visitors in this tie.

Dipping down even deeper into the pyramid, we close our day with AFC Wimbledon away to Notts County (3:00, Paramount+).  Tennis, anyone?
