Notes and Comments
The big surprise this week was Melbourne beating the back to back champs. There’s something off this year at Brisbane. It may be the fallout of the captain’s off-season. It could be they’re fat and happy. Whatever it is, this is not the same team as the last two years.
I was happy that the Cats won but I was surprised by how well they played. True, Western suffered numerous injuries during the game, but Geelong still beat them by a lot. This may be a good sign if they can keep it up.
Essendon is improving! They fought valiantly and stayed close to Gold Coast. A few breaks here and there and there might have been a second upset this week.
Speaking of breaks, GWS can’t buy one. They got outplayed by Sydney in the Derby and now face a somehow cromulent North Melbourne that thinks it’s people. If they lose to North….
Finally, we could have had the first tie off the season, but Carlton only got a behind out of their After The Siren kick and let Collingwood off the hook. Don’t worry, I’m sure we’ll get a tie at some point.
A lot of people in the Tipping Contest got inspired by Spam and Litre last week and got 8 out of 9 correct this week. I managed to climb out of the cellar and am rising in the rankings like the American Eagle Boner! Don’t forget to put the tips in!
If you are a member of an AFL club or you got a Watch AFL membership, you should be able to watch every AFL and AFLW game, including replays. Game times vary between Australian afternoon and evening, which actually makes it easier for us in North America to watch as the games can be seeing in the evenings on Pacific Time and early mornings on Eastern time.
If you haven’t become a member of a club or signed up for the Watch AFL app, you can still watch the AFL and AFLW games in the USA on either FS1 or FS2 and in Canada on TSN. Showtimes can be found here on the Australian Football Association of North America website. But I do recommend that you join a club. It’s fun and they send you free shit.
See you next week!
