[DFO] Status Update

Hi everybody. WHAT A WEEK! WHAT A GLORIOUS WEEK! In just one week since the events of 7/31/15, the views of our site have increased five-fold!

That’s good!

However, as you have undoubtedly noticed, it’s caused some issues with site performance–slowness, some features not working as we want them to, and a lot of continual tinkering happening to make things work.

That’s bad.

BUT! DTZM has been a rockstar in making improvements and figuring out ways to make everything run better! It’s certainly faster than it was not too long ago! A special thanks to Duchess as well!

That’s good!

HOWEVA, this is still only something he and the rest of us are doing for free, in our non-work, non-social-life hours, with limited capabilities in the WordPress format.

That’s… well, not necessarily bad, but kind of tough.

Here’s the deal: up in our banner, you can see that this is a place for football and dick jokes–this is not international relations or political activism or child rearing. It’s. Dick. Jokes. We are striving to make this THE BEST place we can for football and dick jokes, and that effort means a lot to all of us that starting this whole thing going. That’s why we’re trying to figure out the best way to make sure everyone can comment, or post if they want, and that we have all the technical features and accessibility we can. We’re already stuffed to the gills with great articles and upcoming articles and talent and comments and gifs and everything else–FUCKING AWESOME–and it fills us with excitement to keep taking this thing forward like a gritty running back. We do pledge that we will continue to figure any and all issues out as we can, but we ask two things: 1.) have patience, and 2.) don’t be a dick.

This site wouldn’t be what it was without feedback and suggestions and even gripes about the technical pieces–I’m guilty of all of those–but just don’t be a dick about it. Keep in mind that we’re not aiming to have this as a business, or a job, or even to get any money at all from–it’s for fun, and it’s a place for all of us who want to joke and revel in the stupidity of the sport(s) we love. We did not expect to have such a massive influx of people and views, and I’d say that for one week of fire drills trying to cope with it, we’ve done well. So let us know when something’s not working, or if you think of something you’d like to add, but just give us time to tackle it, and check your snark level to make sure it’s within bounds. We’re not some faceless corporate dicks, we’re fellow kommenters trying to keep this whole crazy thing going. We don’t want to play moderator or site admin, but we will if it’s for the greater good of the site.

That said, we have lots of awesome team previews still forthcoming, along with mock drafts, dick jokes, recipes, puzzles, dick jokes, ball jokes, parodies, vagina jokes, dick jokes, and so much more. Thank you all that have joined us in the last week, those that have been there for a while, and even all of you lurking in the background. This is awesome, and we’re going to continue to keep it that way.
