Notes and Comments
The season is one third completed and the good teams are beginning to separate themselves from the not so good teams. I think the middle will sort themselves in the next couple of weeks and there will be a big noticeable gap. We will see.
The big upset this week was Western going into Adelaide and beating Port. They could be getting their mojo back after some unlucky injuries. They are still a team to watch and should make finals.
Speaking of, GWS this week beat Essendon, so they are improving their record. The win, though, was too tight for my comfort. Essendon is not that good and the margin should have been bigger.
North Melbourne hung in against Sydney, proving that they can hang with the big teams. However, they need to win one of these to get over the hump. Moral victories don’t count for shit.
Finally, Carlton had enough and fired their coach (read: encouraged him to resign) after another loss. Australian media is busy speculating as to who will take over. The big problem is that the Carlton organization is a mess. They also fired their list manager. Good luck to whoever takes over!
Spam’s lead has shrunk as Yeah Right had a perfect 9 for 9 week and was only 1 point away from a completely perfect week. Great job, Yeah Right! Don’t forget to put the tips in!
If you are a member of an AFL club or you got a Watch AFL membership, you should be able to watch every AFL and AFLW game, including replays. Game times vary between Australian afternoon and evening, which actually makes it easier for us in North America to watch as the games can be seeing in the evenings on Pacific Time and early mornings on Eastern time.
If you haven’t become a member of a club or signed up for the Watch AFL app, you can still watch the AFL and AFLW games in the USA on either FS1 or FS2 and in Canada on TSN. Showtimes can be found here on the Australian Football Association of North America website. But I do recommend that you join a club. It’s fun and they send you free shit.
See you next week!
