Literally walking out the door to drive to the airport to get my friend when he texts me that the pilot at the connecting airport has told the passengers that the “check engine” light as come on and they’re delayed.

First of all, I’m going to wind up picking him up at 2:00 am. Secondly, I do not think I would stay on a plane where that particular light came on. No sir. You go get me a new plane where the check engine light minds its own goddamn business.

Gumby and I were flying to Seattle years ago. When we landed, the captain said
” welcome to Portland.” No indication beforehand there was any kind of issue. They put us on buses and drove us to Sea-Tac. We got in after 3 am, and our friends who were picking us up were still there waiting for us. This was years before cell phones, so we couldn’t even call them to tell them to go home. No compensation, nothing. That was the last time we flew on that airline, I think it was American.
