NFL Nuggets:
- Your NFL COVID updates:
- The Titans have had zero positive COVID-19 tests for a second straight day.
- This means they could reopen their facilities as early as Wednesday.
- The NFL updated their testing protocol language Monday, threatening forfeiture of games “if a team cannot participate due to COVID-19 spread coming as a result of not following protocol”.
- This is in response to people like Jon Gruden being warned & possibly fined again for failure to adhere to the NFL’s mask policy.
- Cam Newton was asymptomatic as of Monday, meaning he could possibly play as early as this weekend.
- This means that if he tests negative for COVID-19 twice, and those two tests are at least 24 hours apart, league rules would permit him to return for Sunday’s game against the Broncos.
- Unless they trust Brian Hoyer or Jarrett Stidham enough to take on Denver.
- This means that if he tests negative for COVID-19 twice, and those two tests are at least 24 hours apart, league rules would permit him to return for Sunday’s game against the Broncos.
- The Titans have had zero positive COVID-19 tests for a second straight day.
- Attendance policy updates:
- Ohio will let up to 12,000 fans attend games in both Cleveland & Cincinnati.
- According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, the variances are allowed based on several expectations including:
- Additional seating sections and concourse walkways will be opened to accommodate more spectators while ensuring that six-foot social distancing protocols are maintained.
- Spectators will be directed to enter the stadium using the designated entrance that is closest to their assigned seat.
- Spectators will be grouped in “pods” of two to four people with no grouping larger than six individuals who are all members of the same party/group.
- Operating standards and plans outlined in the original Cincinnati Bengals Responsible Restart Plan will be followed.
- The Browns had 6,000 for their game against the Bengals two weeks ago.
- According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, the variances are allowed based on several expectations including:
- Pennsylvania will allow large gathering spaces & venues with over 10,000 seats 15% capacity or up to 7500 people starting this Friday.
- This will apply to both indoor & outdoor gatherings.
- The first game to see this is the Eagles at Steelers this Sunday.
- Ohio will let up to 12,000 fans attend games in both Cleveland & Cincinnati.

YOU ARE NOT LA, BITCH! I believe this might be the definition of “poseur”.
I realize not many people around these parts are particularly fond of baseball, but I’d like to think that we can come together in these troubled times to
- Hate on Dean Spanos, and
- Hate on the Dodgers
Because bad people do not deserve nice things, and Dean Spanos is just the worst.
In other news, GOD-FUCKING-DAMMIT!

This is a crushing blow to my childhood. I listened to Rush; I loved Van Halen. I risked getting extra time on my Young Offender sentence by trying to sneak out of the “school” I was at to try & see the “1984” tour when it went through Vancouver. I did manage to see Van Hagar on their first tour & the later versions of OG Van Halen. But nothing will ever match the enthusiasm I had for the Van Halen of my youth.
Rolling Stone has the most comprehensive obituary, so I’ll link to that here, and a discussion of his twenty chronologically greatest guitar solos here. Obviously, feel free to make your own list.
Since I dropped “Hot For Teacher” into the Request Line, I leave you with the national anthem of Panama,
and the best SNL skit to use a Van Halen song. The versions on NBC & YouTube have replaced the original music with generic due to copyright issues.
RIP.

Holy hell – 2020 can fucking end any time now.
How much would Fox News have pilloried Jackie Robinson if they were around back then?
I just had that thought and wanted to castrate Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes.
Really weird, reading Murdoch’s father’s bio. His dad was a stand up journalist, back to exposing the British fuckups at Gallipoli that cost so many ANZACs their lives during WWI. How did Jabba the Publisher turn out to be such a shit?
You remember how O’Reilly had a producer who stalked some random women across the country for some trivial shit?
They’d have lynched him themselves and aired it as a primetime special.

Turns out that the kid that took my son deep had a hell of a season for the Ogden Raptors, (High A ball), in 2019 and probably would have moved up to AA if there’d been a minor league season.
Naturally I tried to buy a jersey with his name and number on it for my son’s Xmas present, only to find that Ogden doesn’t have any jerseys available.
Pretty disappointed in Ogden, and I can’t imagine that’s the first time anyone’s said that.
Man, you should be able to get somebody on Etsy or one of those types of websites to custom make one. It seems to me that it would certainly be worth the expense for ragging on your boy.
I live an hour south of Ogden, pretty much everyone that doesn’t live there is disappointed in it.

The IRS is still checking to see if I qualify… Here’s to hoping!
I called them enough that I think they finally got tired of me, and gave it up just so I’d go away!
How much of your life did you spend sitting on hold?
Long enough that I was in a fucking mood when they finally answered. Sucked to be them, believe me!
Instead we lose Eddie Van Halen, Johnny Nash, and probably some other good people today.
I can see clearly now that 2020 blows dead dogs.
When GW Bush gave us a $600 tax refund nearly twenty years ago, I took the money and bought an eight ball and an ounce of bud. Thanks George!
Banner?
My son, a decent high school pitcher, just texted me that Tyler Glasnow, (pitching for the Rays tonight), throws like he always imagined he pitched.
I responded, “Stanton’s last at bat, (an absolute bomb of a 3-run HR), did remind me of you against East Catholic” a game in which a kid who is now in the Dodgers organization hit one off my son that I am fairly certain has not come down yet.
Western Roman Catholics still have a grudge against Eastern Orthodox Catholics. Or is it the other way around?
I was reading Bob Gibson’s NYTimes obit today, having consumed a fair amount of apple cider recently and therefore having more time than usual on my hands, and learned that he hit 24 home runs in his career, and 2 more in the WS.
I hate the Cardinals with a passion, but Bob Gibson was The Man.
Yes, he was a true treasUre. Only superficially (and on the mound) mean, he was a great dude. Spoke truth to power in an era where that…was a pretty damned brave thing for a Black man to do.
So, at any time in history.
Not to detract in anyway from the badassery that was Gibson.
The only thing I know about pitching is that it is hard to hit.
There are a number of athletes that spent their careers with teams I hated, but I still had a lot of respect for their skills and character.
Bob Gibson, Lou Brock, Ozzie Smith.
That’s the exhaustive list of Cardinals who shouldn’t eat shit.
Curt Flood and Stan Musial deserve some love. Tim McCarver who caught for Gibson can eat extra shit.
50+ years ago, I had a signature Stan Musial plastic Whiffle bat. I had no fucking idea who Stan Musial was. It was yellow.
YES! Flood in particular, a true laboUr pioneer.

I have the album on vinyl in a box, but it has not been toughed for quite a while…. just have not clicked on the video, good revisit.
I’ve still got a rack of about 50 LPs and a Technics Direct Drive turntable, but home theaters unlike stereo receivers don’t have an Aux amp for record players and you can’t hardly hear the music even with the sound turned up all the way. So, record stand (from the 50s, inherited from my granddad) is exclusively a decorative item.

I like you.

Yes, but we can’t be boyfriends. My wife won’t let me. Something about “fidelity” and “vows” and “I’m not getting any more diseases from you”, whatever all that means.

No dog in this Vick, but just wanted to say that.
Go Padres! The Dodgers losing is great for my 17-1 Rays World Series bet.
All the makings of a master debate…
Book-wise, I lucked into something just yesterday. It’s called “The Best Bad Things” by Katrina Carrasco. She’s an extraordinary wordsmith and it’s her first novel. Don’t pay any attention to the plot, it almost doesn’t matter.
While I love the plots of a lot of T.C. Boyle’s stuff, some of it brings this to mind. You have to read paragraphs over again, because that thing was just a beautiful sculpture. Kinda like I talk*
*On opposite day
I would wonder about a person who is even marginally aware who would be swayed one way or the other in regards to voting by this VP debate. Some will just have re-affirmation and the Burny-ites will just get pissed off because Harris is not a unicorn.
Networks want the ad money.
If I vote early tomorrow, do I still gotta watch the debates and political commercials?
Naked.
Alternatively,in a hair shirt.
I already have one of those on.
OH! You mean the horse hair Cilice…. never mind.
“Every breath you take is a sin.”
Seems logical. Trump/Pence have figurately screwed me over regarding my 401(k) and got my mother brainwashed in his bullshit. I may as well just get it over it and have him literally screw me over.
I didn’t mean for it to be that erotic.
That’s just how I roll. If the clothes go off, its either bath time or fun time.
Narrator: Its always bath time.
If you are imaginative, bath time can also be fun time, even flying solo.
Palin-Biden was the last VP debate that sparked any interest and even that ended up being completely unentertaining.
If you can’t tell, I’m pretty fucking pissed that Mike Pence has the temerity to object to any covid precautions when that sack of shit has been public health enemy #2
Mike Pence hates plexiglass, because, come on, have you ever seen plexiglass in a church?
“STAINED GLASS OR NONE AT ALL, AS GOD INTENDED”
“Mike, for the last time, having a leather dom spurt on the coffee table does not make it stained glass. Now get Mother the industrial strength Windex and some of your old underwear and get back in your shame cage.”
Please, keep going.
(Mike Pence after Mother pegs him for an hour)
Mike Pence hates plexiglass because he wants Kamala to spit into his mouth so he can have something to think about when Mother pegs him later.
Mike Pence hates plexiglass because his fake morality is easy enough to see through as is
Holy hell – 2020 can fucking end any time now.
Careful what you wish for. The increasingly unstable and flailing president does still have access to the nuclear codes.
Mike Pence hates plexiglass because he can’t hear the difference between “clear” and “queer”
That’s why he wasn’t in the last GOP administration. Every time Cheney’s heart stopped, Pence would get in the way.
Mike Pence won’t debate with plexiglass because it reminds him too much of all the jizz moppers he’s no longer allowed to hang out with
Oh shit. Stephen Miller got the rona. If only one of these fucks kick it, let it be him.
Totally unrelated to your comment, but this was an awesome album.
I risked getting extra time on my Young Offender sentence by trying to sneak out of the “school” I was at
I think we need some details here.
My first VH concert experience was also Van Hagar (Monsters of RAWK w/Scorpions, Metallica, Dokken, et al in 1988) followed by a couple post-reunion shows over the last 7-8 years, so sounds like we had roughly the same VH life. Had the first album on vinyl and wore it out.
My old ass actually saw them the first time they ever played an outdoor festival. Anaheim Stadium in 1978 with Black Sabbath and interestingly enough Sammy Hagar and Boston. Supporting the first album. Mind bending.
I also saw them at the second US Festival. This was the famous moment that led to their breaking up the first time. David Lee Roth was fucking hammered drunk and couldn’t remember the words to the songs. Eddie actually kicked him in the ass on stage. The audience just flooded out right after the start of their set.
My sentence was called “diversion” so instead of getting sent to a youth facility like Willingdon Youth or the New Haven farm for 18 months, my parents agreed to send me to a private school on Vancouver Island for three years.
I couldn’t leave without written permission, and had asked & was denied for the concert, despite other people getting to go see the Jacksons the month before. Thus the conundrum. I ultimately decided against it because, in the eighties, a youth criminal record still carried future repercussions, and I didn’t need that keeping me from crossing the border after I turned 18. Now it’s a badge of honour amongst the kids.
The crime…was it “being impolite” or something less serious?
“But the other kids got to go see The Jacksons”
“DAMMIT ROB, MICHAEL JACKSON IS WHOLESOME.”
Shoplifting, B&E, Theft Under $1000; Mischief.
Today it’s an apology to the court; back then it was jail.
Rest assured, America still has no problem imprisoning minors.
“Mischief” is a cool thing to have on a record.
Hell, EVH played the guitar solo on MJ’s “Beat It.”
For free, which was a mistake.
He probably didn’t miss the money.
We do tech support a juvenile prison we call a “home” that’s absolutely not one. A couple years ago, two kids distracted a teacher there and anotherjumped on her unlocked laptop and posted something to her Facebook account. They thought it was hilarious. It then caused a series of firings and a bunch of policy overhauls. Fun times.
I applied to teach in a prison once. One of the teachers there at the time said they had to have a lockdown when he didn’t get all 25 pens back, which didn’t win him any friends amongst his students.
Suffice to say, I never went to the interview.
I went on a sales call (as a network engineer) to a hospital for the criminally insane; it was easily the most on-edge I’ve ever been as an adult. Thankfully we didn’t win the job.
My dad worked the graveyard at the Foxboro State Hospital for 4 years while he worked his way through college (Bridgewater State yeah! Half my family went and continues to go there) back in 1958-62, when it was like Bedlam. He’s told some pretty crazy stories.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foxborough_State_Hospital
Cool story bro alert:
I have been involved in the design of many prisons, but only had to go during startup. One of the engineers (who totally deserves this) was kinda short, ginger, wide hips, Dockers wearing, insecure, you know the type. Anyway we did some work where he had to go to a secure area and inspect some equipment and the inmates were all yelling various things when he bent over and the guards just laughed. Knowing this guy it is fucking funny, but I bet he was pretty nervous.
and/or turned on
We have a few that do it. They largely function as proctors for online courses though. The districts want their sweet, sweet funding and they’re willing to go as far as giving a login to a single website to get it. One barely sees them as human and the other acts like they’re on a mission from God, so it’s about what you’d expect. Between my politics and my personal feelings regarding child welfare, I have many issues with how it’s handled, but that’s outside my influence and without us, the education piece would be even more half-assed than it is now.
I really love ya man. You’re my best friend. Because you always fucking came to see me while I was in Juvie.
That’s only because Viking was such a dick.
I am glad I never got caught.
I got busted for “being under the influence of a controlled substance” (I was indeed stoned as shit) at the beginning of my junior year in 1975 in Colton, CA. Me and my buddy who was busted in the same incident were “sentenced” to attending counseling at the Redlands Family Services Center once a week. During school hours. We spent Wednesday afternoons the whole rest of the school year getting stoned and attending the counseling sessions and blowing off the rest of the school afternoon. I remember he had a 1968 Dodge Monaco coupe with a 383, the car in which we were first busted and in which we went to counseling. When I had to move to Texas at the end of my junior year, they said “sentence served.” It was cool except I did have to get a marijuana waiver to join the Navy in 1981, so it did go on to my PERMANENT RECORD.
Other than that, I never got caught.
I was soooo lucky; had cuffs on a few times* but nothing came of it.
*In the nonsexual way.
We call “diversions” here “Desvíos”. My, Rob
