Hello there fellow DFO’er. Hope you’re well today. And thanks for coming back to see last weeks tl;dr of last week as decided by my brain. There’s no reason as to why some comments make it and others don’t. Seriously. There isn’t.
So, while many were getting a crazy storm over the weekend, where I was managed to avoid most of the heavy snow and only got a few inches. I’ve now jinxed myself and will get record breaking snow in a few weeks, but for now, enjoying only needing to shovel once on the weekend. It is pretty cold, highs of -10C, and windy, but again, not much snow, I’ll take it.
I’ve also been renamed, so thanks OG Balls. Do note that I’ll still be the same curmudgeon as before, just re-branded.
The admins and such are very awares of the issues with the site. We are working on it, and trying to get it back to just random crashes instead of the hourly we’ve been seeing. And yes we’ve tried turning it off and back on again. So, please be patient whilst we get the site back to normal.

Interestingly, after the game people were blaming Ben Johnson and the receivers rather than Caleb’s rather erratic throwing style. This town loves that kid, which is honestly nice to see after Cutler and the parade of QBs following him.

Somewhat proud mentor moment today. The intern I had last summer, who was my ~first direct report and certainly the first I really felt obligated to actually give useful experience/understanding (rather than just doing a job), just told me she got an even better (more appropriate for her degree/what she wants to do and better paying) internship offer for this summer, today. Had a recommendation call with the new hiring manager yesterday and according to intern she really got a lot out of last summer. My goal was just not waste her summer but apparently it was ok.
Tl,dr: managed to teach someone some science, she can actually do her own research (on a very narrow topic because that’s how it works)

I used a wide masonry chisel today that I kept for about 40 years. Don’t recall what I got it for all those years ago, but it worked like a champ today. Fine ceramic tile splash panel is history.
The kitchenette in the taverna is now gone. 8 hours all by my lonesome. Motrin taken. There were 20 years of meals in that kitchenette, it served us solid. New one should be in late next week. Till then the (typical Italian) “upstairs” kitchen finally gets some use.
I think I’ll put on some Blondie.
