Yes I realize exactly one other person, maybe, gets the second half of that joke.
Anyway, thanks to the new apartment, I’ve had to figure out my transit routes out again. The new digs are closer to buses and the LIRR (ruler of Omicron Perseid 8), so that means I can drive less! (Combined with that and not having to go to the former Senorita Weaselo’s every weekend it’s unlikely that I’ll be pushing up against 20,000 miles this year, so that’s nice).
This also includes figuring out where I get spat out of the bus to get to the 7 train, or vice-versa. Or, like today, forgetting where I live and not instinctually staying on another two stops (I remembered in the middle of the first stop, but the E train runs express, so that’s like six local stops when I flipped back around).
There’s been a little bit of wandering to figure it out, and since I’m already late at that point in time there isn’t even the fun wandering to get some sort of tasty dish. I mean, it’s Flushing, it’s a veritable freakin’ treasure trove! (Also it’s not allergic, it’s entirely mental.) I can go to a really good shabu shabu place across the street from the bus if I have time! (I don’t have time, but that’s a different story.)
I’ll admit, I’ve missed the concept of a new route to map. The last time was learning her neighborhood, and that one’s actually fairly simple since it was just walking to the subway depending on if you wanted the local (closer walk) or the express (farther walk), which was dependent on if I was going to work or if we were going somewhere else together. The mapping would be after that of where we were going but it was usually one of about four neighborhoods in the city, and downtown and midtown Manhattan isn’t exactly hurting for subways running uptown or downtown. Crosstown yes.
And who knows? Maybe I’ve got another personal route to map someday soon, but we’ll see how things shake out.
Okay, what’s on the Olympics today? No, seriously, I don’t currently have a TV so I don’t think Spectrum has let me set up my streaming. I’m fine with the base model of channels, and maybe the YES Network. Or I need to play Beat the Streak and get several strings of 3-day MLB.tv subscriptions, because apparently that’s a pain in the ass. Anyway sports.
Olympics. Many things depending on your channel.
Non-Olympics:
When’s the All-Star Game to not care about?
Fuck Embiid (NYK vs. PHI, 7:30, ESPN)
JV Basketball
Florida-Georgia Line (7:00, ESPN2)
Lowratios vs. Those two years where Cinderella kept dancing… but midnight came all the same (UConn vs. Butler, 7:30, TNT)
Lobos vs. Lopes (No, seriously. New Mexico vs. Grand Canyon, 10:00, FS1)
CONCACAF Cup acción:
América (Sexi Mexi) vs. CD Olimpia (Honduras) (8:00, FS2)
Monterrey (También Sexi Mexi) vs. CSD Xelajú MC (Guatemala) (10:00, FS2)
Can I remember my high school Spanish well enough so I can order at the Salvidoran deli down the block without mutual confusion? ¡Nosotros veremos!
01:57 EST and we’re back.
It should be noted, I hadn’t refreshed in about two hours.
Can’t sleep. Clown will eat me.
Everyone finishing the biathlon, collapses in a pool of vomit and tears while desperately gasping for breath, all but three of them medalless and having wasted the last four years of rigorous training.
“Gee, why don’t more people want to do this sport?”
Hear me out: Biathlon, but with shotguns and dishware
“It’s coming apart for the Austrian!”
I’ll take “Things Said At The Siege Of Stalingrad” for $400, Alex
Peroni is piss.
“Coger” has double meaning in El Salvador. Say “Toma la propina” instead, so it doesn’t come off as “Fuck the tip”.
“or do…”

While pointing at your crotch…
friends of mine confused her boyfriend when she said cogemej en tu coche in the middle of church growing.
I’m trying to remember if I watched Spirited Away in English or Japanese with subtitles. The original language is almost always better, right?
Ghibli got really good english voice acting though
The only one I’ve seen dubbed is Porco, which was fun.
Better public transit access is a great thing to have! Glad you’re having fun exploring the new neighborhood, I’ve been super nostalgic for NYC recently so enjoyed the read. Kinda want shabu shabu now even though I just had dinner
Early INXS was good
Jesus, I walk into the clubhouse and I’m catching stray grenade shrapnel as soon as I close the door.
It’s a sign of love.
Not necessarily respect, but definitely love.
Weekend reading:

👶👴
I feel like reading that will take half of my subjective life. I’ll do something productive.
*Olympic theme plays* ahh…
Seems like that would only be true if your adult life is pretty boring and repetitive
But ice dancing is pretty cool!
.
How do you feel about Depeche Mode?
I’m a fan. I take no argument.
It’s a sweet band!
Two person luge is fucking stupid. There, I said it.
They should go down in the 69 position.
there is something called a luge relay tomorrow which sounds like chaos
I like this packaging better:
Everything about luge is awesome. Only a Philistine would feel differently.
Sí.
*Huh. They’re not well-represented here. Wonder why that is…oh yeah…ice.*
It’s sledding, which is already awesome, made even more awesome. Although carrying the damn sled up all the stairs does suck
I nominate the Meatball Sub as the messiest sandwich of all time because one of my kids made a bunch for the family this evening and I spilled it all over myself.
Is it really the sub’s fault or do you have an eating problem?
really depends on the balls to bun ratio
Also true for how fun an adult film is to watch
Italian beef can give that a run for messiest sandwich and I’ll put a freshly made Philly cheesesteak in the mix as well.
Chili dog. Come at me, sandwich gatekeepers!

I feel bad that James van der Beek died because he and his wife were good friends of my brother and my brother finally flew to Texas to see them this weekend. I got to meet the Beeks once before Covid. He was such a nice guy even when I accidentally insulted (maybe? I will never know) a dead actor friend of his. But I also got to geek out over him telling me about Megalopolis back before 9/11 shut down that project. Anyway, I am also seeing a bunch of comments on the Reddit posts discussing the rise in colorectal cancer and specifically among 20-39 year-olds and I’m sure there’s nothing suspicious there.
I should use Peacock to watch the Olympics or just not be depressed.
Sorry to hear of your brother’s loss.
He seemed like a good one, waaaay too young.
I really loved him (and everyone and everything else) in The Rules of Attraction. And Dawson’s Creek was a neat show.
#DoucheStrong, out at Robins Hood
DFO Commenters: “Scotchy is a lot of things but he’s not exactly ‘edgy’.”
Me: [eats corn on the cob out of season] “How Do You Like Me Now, Bitches!”
DFO Commenters: [complete silence]
Me: “Bitches?”
DFO Commenters: [look down and away]
Me: [quietly] “bitches?”
The bitches left.
I though “Edgy” was the name of your favorite flensing knife?
Would’ve been my guess, too.
You rang?
