Notes and Comments
It’s amazing that the draw between Hawthorn and Collingwood was the first one EVER between the two teams. I mean, these are two of the oldest teams in the league and this is the first tie?!?
I still don’t believe Melbourne is any good but I do have to admit that they played Sydney better than any team in the competition this year. They were right in it until the end. Maybe they are not as bad as I thought?
Gold Coast did indeed right the ship against GWS this week as I mentioned last time they needed to. On the other side, GWS is getting better and getting healthier, but they need to start winning games. Luckily for them, they get Essendon and West Coast the next two weeks.
North Melbourne hung in against Geelong but something happened at Three Quarter Time and the Cats ran away with the game. It was a good win for the Cats and they are now in the top six. Remember that the top six now get byes while 7-10 play in the new Wild Card Round. Top Four still get the Double Chance.
Finally, Richmond got their first win of the season in beating West Coast! They are now even in points with Carlton and Essendon, who also only have one win. Surprisingly, Essendon’s win was against Melbourne, which makes no sense at all.
Spam has extended his lead at the top of the standings with another 8 for 9 week while Yeah Right could only gather 6. Sharky is now in a tie for second place with Yeah Right, three behind Spam. Don’t forget to put the tips in!
If you are a member of an AFL club or you got a Watch AFL membership, you should be able to watch every AFL and AFLW game, including replays. Game times vary between Australian afternoon and evening, which actually makes it easier for us in North America to watch as the games can be seeing in the evenings on Pacific Time and early mornings on Eastern time.
If you haven’t become a member of a club or signed up for the Watch AFL app, you can still watch the AFL and AFLW games in the USA on either FS1 or FS2 and in Canada on TSN. Showtimes can be found here on the Australian Football Association of North America website. But I do recommend that you join a club. It’s fun and they send you free shit.
See you next week!
