And now, for the music!
As I mentioned before, I’ve decided that I must take up the mantle that tWBS ran with and help to make this world a better place. I will do this in the one way he couldn’t: By introducing you to good music!
This week, I’m playing six songs from the past that I’ll be surprised if anyone has ever heard them. That’s the theme. Enjoy!
Song Number One:
Canción Número Dos:
Chanson Numéro Trois:
Canzone numero quattro:
Canção número cinco

That’s all for this week, folks! Be good to each other and fly low and avoid the radar.
Good night, gentlepersons. Rest well, and dream of large women.

Currently listening to Mogwai Fear Satan which is like fifteen minutes long. I should listen to more post-rock stuff. I certainly do dig it.
I miss learning stuff. I’m going to start going through my remaining textbooks and doing problem sets for fun. If that goes well maybe I’ll start to teach myself fluid dynamics
It freaked me the fuck out to learn that in crowd crush scenarios (like Astroworld) things are governed more by the laws of fluid dynamics than anything else.
I mean, we are mostly water
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VYyHAXZKaPQ
It totally makes sense when the average attendee is sporting a ton of moving fluids.
If the first one falls there’s a metric shit ton of bodies (fluids) that drop down directly on them.
I was in a couple of crowd crushes where you could easily see how somebody could get crushed.
Springfield Illinois, Blue Oyster Cult and we lined up 5 deep. They didn’t open the doors for a GA show and the crush was insanity.
Remember The Who in Cincinnati?
Same damn thing.
Ain’t nobody learned nothing about crowd control ever.
General admission leads to this eventuality.
We all need to not wait until a doctor tells us to exercise the brain. I remember trying to do that with my Dad and mother-in-law as they suffered through dementia and Alzheimers. Too late then. Use it or lose it.
I do crosswords, read a lot, have a job that sometimes is interesting, etc, but that doesn’t cut it. Just need some hard math every so often.
Agree, puzzle books for leasure time are good too. Reading is way underrated today. Nothing beats the feel of a good book.
Hola folks.
I got distracted posting songs to drive Dok’s neighbors crazy.
Happy what ever the fuck!
Huzzah!
You’re counting in order.
The song clue I mean.
Also according to this Nat Geo show, drug dealers have excellent mask compliance although they don’t really comply with CDC recommendations which don’t consider bandannas to be sufficient
Damn, it took this lady 90 minutes to find a vein. She’s over 50 and has been using since she was 11 🙁
“Listen, not all of us had parents that supported us in chasing our dreams.” – Todd Marinovich, expressing jealousy
Watching the first episode of Wheel of Time. It’s rather meh so far.
Did you like the books? I read maybe two or three of them and didn’t get terribly invested.
Did the book series ever actually finish? I read a few in high school but didn’t get too into it as the general consensus was that Robert Jordan would die before bringing the series to a conclusion
He did, in fact, die, but left a lot of notes, and his widow commissioned another author to finish the series. He ended up doing a pretty good job — -the last few books were much better than Jordan’s previous few.
I liked the first few books, then it really started to drag. After Robert Jordan died and Sanderson took over to finish it up, it started to move and was ok. But I can’t really recommend it as a whole.
I suspect that even those early books wouldn’t seem very good to me now. At the time they were a big step up from the sort of Dragonlance-type adolescent stuff I had been reading, but the genre as a whole has come a long way.
That said, I have some hopes for the adaptation. They can cut out most of the boring and annoying stuff, update some of the cliched things, and keep the core storyline and worldbuilding, which was always a strength.
Aw, Dragonlance! I always admired that series for having the balls to kill off Sturm.
Well, they foreshadowed the hell out of it…
If only they had killed Tasselhoff.
If only Tasselhoff had remained as he was characterized in the first fifteen pages, he would have been fine.
Termans tove Tavid Tasselhoff
Have you tried Wheel of Fish?
Last night during zoom poker we were talking about second-person novels and the only prominent one I could think of was Bright Lights, Big City. Anybody got anything else of note?
Yes! I read a good one translated from Chinese back in September, “A Single Swallow”
Also notable for all the characters being dead, and a chapter that is letters between two dogs (one of whom is dead)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VDFNJLZ/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1
Both dogs died of old age in their sleep, right? RIGHT?
NO SPOILERS
But it isn’t a spoiler to reveal that they are GOOD DOGGOS
They’re all good dogs, Dok.
This book title is misleading.

The Pocky designed to pair with red wine pairs well with this red wine
THESE GUYS THE POCKY DESIGNERS I CALL THEM SLEDGE HAMMER CAUSE YOU SHOULD TRUST THEM; THEY KNOW WHAT THEY’RE DOING.
[I am going be smiling about Zymm’s comment and my response for a while. It’s fun to be a happy drunk!]
My this Pocky pairs well with red wine Pocky box is leading to a lot of questions already answered by the Pocky box.
I hate when I reach the point where I want to have another beer but I know I’ll be asleep in half an hour so it’s a dumb idea to have it.
But I still want it, damnit!
Do it! There will be more beer tomorrow. Live in the now!
All right, you win. I am listening to Achtung Baby and having one more cold one.
She moves in mysterious ways, man.
This is the reason to buy tiny, tiny cans
I prefer large cans
Hey there Mr. Arizona Iced Tea, are you still a dollar even with inflation what it is?
Note to self, check that next bodega I hit up.
According to this Nat Geo show, Hawaii is the best state in the country to deal crack. Huge markup, well behaved crackheads, and you don’t have to worry about guns
It’s all Aloha bruh!
I have officially finished my first bottle of whiskey. It took 2 months and a lot of mixers. I would say I have leveled up, but I’m pretty sure that is just the walls moving while I try to walk.
Did you get character points that you can allocate to things like strength or charisma? That’s how you can tell if you leveled up. You might have just gotten extra experience points for completing the whiskey bottle quest.
Wife is drinking the Tito’s with club soda. I think she is leveling up faster, as she is on her 3rd.
You get neither strength nor charisma from drinking a bottle of whiskey and damn few intelligence points but you do get experience points.
Lemme tell ya.
Perception >> Reality
thats not true drinking make you irristible to women
After watching the season finale of Foundation, I have, within minutes, logged on to the internet to register my disgust.
Asimov’s First Law of Robotics: A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
Robot on Apple’s adaptation of Asimov’s Foundation: [snaps a human’s neck with its bare hands]
Watching Attack of The Show. It’s very fun.
Yo. My feet hurt.
Saw your moves on twitter. Well done. Have a scotch!
I had 3 beers and a Manhattan, will that work?
It’s funny cause I’ve had three Jack & Cokes and a beer!
how you gonna cure diseases with sore feet?
HEY how bout a link to donate to your deal, so we can feel better without doing anything?
I think you donated last year and the walk was postponed to this year, so we’re square. Let’s just go with pledges for next year?
Whatever you say Forrest!
Proud of you btw
You have the diabetes? Should we amputate?
All of these songs are about balls.
That’s actually pretty accurate!
Edited because I am dumb.

Brutal week, pretty drunk. Wife has had a few as well so we are watching old episodes of 8 out of 10 Cats. They are brilliant.
Those are all songs I have heard while on various drugs. Boom, nailed it.
Ottawa going for 2 down by 1 with 34 seconds left in the game
*edit fixed the time
They got it. Haha
Will finish 3-11 and end the season on a win
And with the win force MTL to play on the road next week. Hahaha
Damn it! This ain’t pornhub. Oh well. May as well post while I’m here.
Today was a good day at work, until 4:45 when the shit always hits the fan. All because some vendors won’t get their head out of their ass. Jerks
I’m avoiding Twitter for the rest of the weekend, and only watching cooking shows on PBS/Create, sports, and playing Skyrim. In between, drinking like a fish.
Tomorrow, Wrexham can improve their win streak to 3 games. A big opportunity to win at home. Would be nice to see.
Are you wearing your jersey around town?
Saturday mornings, so I’m just another old fat guy wandering around the grocery store.
I recognize a couple of the bands, which is more than the usual number of songs i recognize.
I’ve heard the last two. The Underworld song isn’t familiar, which surprises me considering that I must have listened to Rez a million times while high.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=F6Y7lcvubhU
These are my kinda songs and don’t know any. Will be adding them to a playlist
The entire Beaucoup Fish album is brilliant.
My introduction to this kind of music was via Logic Trance 2.

If you’re old enough to remember David Letterman’s early 80’s NBC late night show, you’ll remember that Brother Theodore was the greatest guest ever:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kj5fVnHWUl4&t=7788s
The NBC version of Letterman’s show was, in my opinion, the best one. He did some amazing stuff there.
