Apologies for the long-ass link, but this guy drank nearly 2,000 beers last year and ranked his best. I’ve had one of them, Juice Machine, (and just mailed one to BFC, which I’m sure a cross-continent trip in a cardboard box won’t affect at all), and it is indeed delicious. I do think Treehouse has better beers, but taste is subjective so YMMV.
That said, I notice that almost all of the rest of the list consists of beers with ABVs of 11% or more. To me anything much over 8% is just too much to be truly considered a beer. I find that the alcohol becomes more and more of a factor in taste. If I wanted that much booze taste I’d go get a bottle of good scotch or bourbon and have at it.

Even though Wake screwed me, I kinda feel like I almost sort of broke even by deciding not bet on the USC/Iowa or the OkieState/aTm game.

So had first post-op follow-up with the podiatric surgeon today. Looking at the x-rays, I’ve got a couple really gnarly staples and what look like sheet metal screws as permanent accoutrements to my bone structure. Doc pulled out about 20 staples and re-wrapped, still at least six weeks before I can put any weight on it at all. Getting down the stairs and out to my ride’s car was a bit of an adventure, as was re-entering the house. One improvement is I can now unwrap the wound and let it get wet during bathing instead of having to put this big rubber bag over my leg. Sucks overall, but at least I’m still gonna be working from home thru mid-February, which I can stand. Still home- and first-floor-bound, but HEB delivers and I’ve got a network of friends to stop at the packy for me. I do have to be clever about that, don’t want any one friend make too many booze runs too often and figure out how much I am actually pounding down and stage an intervention or some shit. Hell, there’s nothing else to do.
