So Thursday rolls around and I’m late arriving to the Evening Open Thread and I read Rob’s intro and I see that he says I’ve got you tomorrow and you know what happens next.
Shit! I forgot to update the post!
As far the songs, we’re all good because I was going to replay a puzzle from before that you didn’t get the first time.
My initial hint for the puzzle was: “Play the songs”. Hopefully that helps you out.
I will give up to three hints. Let me know if you need more in the comments.
With the pictures, I started updating the post with the new pictures you guys had posted but then you guys stopped posting new ones!
So, I have a dilemma.
I am now quickly pivoting to an idea I had before for a hidden theme with the pictures. Let’s see if you like it.
Without further ado, TO THE TITS AND ASSES!
For those of you prudes that don’t like cheesecake or beefcake, click HERE to skip to the music videos.

Without further ado, here are the Top Twenty Five Pics of The Week:

And now, for the music!
As I mentioned before, I’ve decided that I must take up the mantle that tWBS ran with and help to make this world a better place. I will do this in the one way he couldn’t: By introducing you to good music!
Today we are back to the puzzles! As always, I will give up to three hints in the comments at your request. You try to determine the hidden theme or link between all the songs. Good luck!

That’s all for this week, folks! Be good to each other and try to stay the fuck away from stupid people. That’s not COVID-19 advice, that’s just general good sense. See you next week!
Shit, I overdosed on nostalgia

I am embarrassed by how much I love this song.
I’m not. I secretly enjoyed this song back in the day. Now, I just don’t care who knows that the groove is in my heart.

Memories somehow!
Which is the better song about masturbation? “I Touch Myself” by the Divinyls, or “Teenage Kicks” by the Undertones? Or a different one?
The Stroke by Billy Squier
Divinyks. I’m drink. Did spell right?
Is the theme wedgies?

Legit dilemma.
Second eldest brother who I rarely mention, Is…
One of them,
I love the guy. Throughout our entire lives I’ve been the ONLY brother he can talk to. He wants to talk.
And I’ve got nothing positive to say.
I’m trying but if you can’t take right now seriously then I don’t know what we can talk about.
Love you my elder brother but get a fucking vaccine already.
I think I’ll initiate contact but I’m not sure it will end on friendly terms.
Hesitant is likely to come back if supportive and caring. Crazy isn’t likely to come back, but if it does, it’s supportive and caring that does it. Easy to give the results, not nearly as easy to implement, so Godspeed.
Thanks, Dok.
I love the guy but he’s always been the first to get lost.
I spoke out because I need to be a lot more gentle in my approach because it’s easy to get angry as shit and I really want to not do that anymore.
It’s a good thing he’s christian.
Right?
No point in getting upset unless getting upset helps (note to self, listen to own advice) In this case at least, if you can make it clear that you strongly disagree but in a way where y’all are still brothers, I would call that a win even if he doesn’t go get the jab.
Guess we both earned a plus 1 in self awareness.
Motherfucker still needs the vaccine.
DAMMIT!
I mean, you ARE brothers, you could totally get away with vaxxing him in his sleep
This conversation never happened.
😉
And for clarity sake, DJ TAJ is most not definitly not the brother in question.
I was gonna say, all the pics feature legs being bent or having uneven stances, but the double stacker in red has firm posture
Gonna go read, au revoir mes amies

I was gonna say all the pics are in pools, but then some weren’t.
Ruminate on this further, I shall
Please do
Is this the second time in a row? Clueless!
Agree. I’m lost.
Hopefully someone figures it out.
Might take a ride to clear my mind.
Aw, Biz Markie finally passed. Been in hospice for a bit.
Now, don’t say he’s just a corpse. Now don’t say he’s just a corpse.

🎵Oh baby you, you got what I need!🎵
Stuck in my head now, probably forever. Here is a little something for Sexy Friday
Greetings, sorry I’m late. I have some great info about nuclear subs
(scrolls down)
(sighs)
Okay, let’s talk about Ohtani or alcohol.
Did you hear about that time Ohtani made cocktails in a nuclear sub?
If he did that, they would be the best cocktails ever and no one can change my mind.
There’s one called The Neutron, I’ll split it with you. I hear it pairs well with fission chips.
Nuclear puns are a blast, but there’s not mushroom for subtlety.
Smackdown should have at least bought you some temporary peace.
Smackdown was good, with the volume turned off after Vinnie Mac made the grand entrance. Michael Cole is the Joe Buck or wrestling announcers.
And former Colt Pat MacAfee is on color commentary.
The pop for Edge was deafening.
All right, who’s up for a Spotify playlist?
Quick background: I made several playlists for some friends and they all loved them, so I’ve shared them elsewhere and they’ve gotten some good responses.
Here’s one:
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4GRhlZN2lwCv2e2du2QuU9?si=99ed6a5bd0f44a60
If you like it, say yeah!
If you don’t want me to do this shit again, tell me to fuck off!
(Edited to add: this isn’t necessarily meant to be played in any specific order. Just hit shuffle and go)
Holy shit I’m out of touch! I only recognize two artists in that entire list!
It’s okay–it’s purposely designed to introduce you to new stuff. I hope you like it!
I’m digging some of these songs. Thanks!
Pictured: Balls, enjoying the playlist
I only slept about an hour last night, but oddly doing well. This has been a stupid week, might be an extra wine night.

Bleeding into downstream, I wonder if there is so much NFL enthusiast/lawyer/engineer type bleedover because of the underlying maths/game theory?
It’s easy to see with engineering, but the LSAT was almost exclusively game theory, logic puzzles, and having the vocabulary of someone who reads.
Makes sense. It explains how when this site started, RTD did a puzzles column and why I add puzzles to Sexy Friday.
works for futbol too, even though it took what, 5 years before we started that revolcuion?
While the strategy elements are interesting to a broader audience than just us nerdy type folks, I think we’re probably the ones who are yelling the most about those damn chickenshit coaches not going for it on 4th when it’s clearly a positive expected value play to do so
This is not a photo of my boat, and I don’t know these guys, but it looks identical to my boat.
This is a photo of the “Maneuvering Room” in the Engineering spaces of a U.S. atomic submarine of the class I served on (USS James Madison). This may look exotic to you, but it it looks really normal to me. Let’s examine it together:
The guy in the foreground is the throttle-man. Those big wheels in front of him control the flow of steam into the main engines. The larger wheel is the “ahead” throttle and the smaller wheel is the “astern” throttle. The big dial on his panel is the engine order telegraph from the conn up forward; but mostly they called back and verbally asked for specific engine RPMs (“Make 30 turns on the main shaft”)
The middle guy is the reactor operator. During normal operations he didn’t have to do anything, because reactor power automatically follows steam demand (it’s physics). But we drilled constantly and did scrams and shutdowns and startups and fast-scram recoveries and then he got busy.
The guy in the back is the electrical operator. On his panel he controlled the main AC and DC buses and their generation and distribution. I was stationed just outside this room and ran the main engines and our turbine-generators, which could produce four-million watts of AC electrical power (which is enough to power a medium-sized town). The electrical operator would manage this power between our AC and our DC electrical systems, and it was a power-hungry ship. The DC was at 120 volts and the AC was at 450 volts 60-Hz three-phase ungrounded. Both will kill you instantly, just in slightly different ways.
Up forward, the Weapons Department took some of this DC voltage and fed it into their own static-inverters that created precision 400-hertz electricity for the Trident rockets and their guidance systems.
On the far wall is the seawater valve panel (seawater was essential for cooling), which shows which seawater valves are open or shut. That knowledge is kind of a really big deal on a submarine.
Missing is the EOOW (Engineering Officer of the Watch) who would have been tucked in at the right rear. I’m assuming he took this photo.
The rest of the panels are electrical switchboards powering various engineroom systems, mostly low-voltage sensors, nothing special.
I hope this cleared things up for you.
How is there even ROOM for all the boogery we are told goes on??
Also, how close did your sub ever get to a launch event? You can tell us, our security clearances are top notch.
It took the whole crew to launch a rocket, but a single one of us could have stopped it.
Also, they never fucked around with launches. We drilled constantly of course but only “missile” or “guidance” was activated at a time, never both. They took nuclear security to Vatican levels. They did not fuck around.
Which is probably why we are still here to talk about it!
Also I was an engineer not a weaponette. We had a crew of 110.
How much background in the science were you schooled in and tested on? Back over 10 years ago I had a friend who was some sort of radar specialist on an AEGIS cruiser and I was surprised to find how many technical exams there were
Naval Nuclear Power School (at that time in Orlando Florida) was the hardest school I ever went to, and I went to prep school and college in Washington DC. The academic rigor was really designed to weed people out. It was 80 hours a week. But Admiral Rickover hated the American educational system and thought everyone was “soft” and wanted to ensure every crewman knew his business. I learned high level calculus and algebra at Nuke School that I never learned anywhere else, and I’m an educated man.
that would have totally weeded me out. I can work insane hours in bursts, but I couldn’t sustain it without losing my shit
Not so much the 80 hour weeks, but the multi-variable calc and tensor analysis in junior year E&M was the weed out course for undergrad physics. Both semesters I did really poorly on the midterm, then aced the final, in a reflection of my poor study habits that exist to this day!
Christ my current job is boring in comparison.
I had a problem with translating 3-dimensional calculus to 2-dimensional paper. Somehow, I sucked out a B (NC State wasn’t on +/- then), by the skin of my teeth.
Made a high A in differential equations, though (which is as far as I went).
Do a 40 day patrol in the North Atlantic and then tell me about your fucking homework.
Sorry that sounded harsher than I meant it to be. Too late to edit.
That’s cool shit.
Woo, just booked a seat at the shared table of the Faroe Islands 2-star Michelin restaurant, Koks. Damn right I will do the wine pairing and eat whatever potentially scary things are on that tasting menu!

This is the FlyerTalk trip report that tipped me off to the awesomeness: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trip-reports/1971154-fabulous-faroes-luxair-luxembourg-aa-y-af-j-y-sk-y-lg-y.html
Is there still a Travel Channel? Because you should have a show.
But Brick gets to go on the Chernobyl episode.
I keep meaning to write up my trips as posts, but coming home is always a bit depressing and I don’t get around to it. Bug me about it and I’ll get it done!
From the only other 2-star Michelin restaurant I’ve been to, Zaranda, this was probably my favorite dish. They took the prawn heads and stuck them in a french press with black tea
I won’t lie, just thinking of it is making me gassy.
Worth it. People with gout become people with chronic gout for meals like these. Lucky for me I’m not rich enough to have chronic gout, might end up with a gout episode if this year plays out right.
chard foam is just a fascinating concept
It really is, and this was a foam with flavor and texture that legit added to the dish!
Then they topped the whole thing with chard foam. The prawn tea was really rich, and the chard foam lightened it up a bit.
Heh. Koks.
Viking Koks!
hey, they NEVAR have problem making motion in the ocean ppl forget that
“Hey baby, wanna row, row, row, your boat gently up my stream before we get some hygenic pillaging going on?”
I’ve heard worse pickup lines
Nukular annihilation??
DING DING DING DING!!!
Oooh, good timing, I’ve just been doing contingency planning for my Chernobyl + Faroes trip!
There are few things more interesting to read about (for me) than how close we came to accidental Armageddon.
We did much better with Three Mile Island, although between the two it has unfortunately poisoned the entire idea of nuclear energy with a lot of the climate change activists. It’s much safer nowadays, and it’s a relatively clean alternative that we could make good use of while we work out the kinks and unforeseen consequences of other clean energy schemes. There are a handful that are in favor, but doubt anything will come of it.
Brick Meathook is the nuclear expert here. What are you people talking about?
I’m visiting Chernobyl in a couple months and I want to see Greta in a nuclear sub
Edit: not necessarily at the same time, but that would be neat.
Can’t we just convince Q-Anon that radiation is a liberal Jooooooo lie, and get them to resettle there?
I could explain all this stuff to you better than anyone.
You have our complete belief in your complete library of powers.
No seriously I’m the last of the Rickover trained Navy nuclear engineers. I did propulsion but we sure as shit had weapons. I know all this stuff better than any book you could buy. I should write the book.
I would read that book! I have an engineering degree (that I don’t use professionally), so I could at least credibly pretend to understand.
How the hell do you go from an engineering degree to becoming a lawyer???
The farther down we go here the margins get thinner and thinner
Yup. I think we’ve made it to the limit before, but that was ages ago so I’m going to keep going and see how far we can push it
Having a background in a real subject can be super useful for law! Or at least for getting into law school. Considering the amount of work I’ve done on stuff like data controls and transparency I bet I could get into a really good law school if I were to apply
I had to do something, the job market was shit, and I didn’t want to go to engineering grad school?
Seriously, never even considered it until like 6 months from graduation.
But at the end of the day, it’s still rational problem solving. I was also the most popular engineer for project teams, because I was willing and able to write the report.
Instead of writing the book, maybe you can stress that no one knows as much as you on this topic.
I would 100% read whatever you want to write on the topic
Nice, you were the cream of the crop!
Always thought the idea of using weapons grade plutonium for energy was a good idea,, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breeder_reactor
