Euro Wednesday with Mexican Liquor!

Good morning all.

Normally I use this timeslot for writing about the random Snaxx from around the world but as we know I love the Euros A LOT so a daily preview will take the spot for the month.

That being said I do have a review for a gift I got from the illustrious BallsofSteel. I watch Sexcsi Mexi futbol from an illegal stream so I get Mexi commercials.

A vodka commercial flew by which I barely caught and was completely intrigued by the tamarind flavoUr as I was unaware it was a thing in booze (am naive). I immediately went to the Slack machine and asked if Balls could procure me some Smirnoff Spicy Tamarind Vodka as I really wanted to try it. Tamarind flavoUred anything is very new to me (not a lot available in middle Canada growing up) and Balls’ care packages have had many tamarind based candies which I have loved. To not steal Shakbait’s bit I will make this brief. No name to this one yet.

2 oz Tamarind Vodka

1 oz lime juice

1/2 oz simple syrup

top with soda

garnish with lime

There were four of us who tried this cocktail and all of us absolutely loved it. It tastes like a boozy morning in Mexico at your all inclusive and does have the fruity taste of a breakfast beverage. Everyone agreed that if they were at a resort they definitely would have at least one of these a day with their buffet breakfast. We had 2 of them each and went through half the bottle so we have at least one more session with the stuff. I preferred a bit more lime juice whereas Mrs. Cola preferred a bit more simple syrup. Most people up here that have home bars with whom I spoke said they would just pass this by in the liquor store but when I gave them the recipe they really wanted to know how it went. I would buy again no question. Thanks Balls!

Futbol

This is one of those days where if unless you are from or have heritage from these countries you will probably have something to do. To the games!

Russia v Finland 8 am DFO – St. Petersburg. These countries have always gotten along right? There are 125, 000 Karelians in Russia who have Finnish origin but borders were drawn up so pick a side!

It gave me great pleasure to see Russia get battered by the Belgians. In Euro 2008 I saw Spain v Russia twice and they were the only group of fans who not party with anyone other than themselves. It was a really stark contrast to the games against Sweden, Greece, Italy, and the final against Germany. Fuck them, the racist pricks, I hope they lose every match.

As for the Finns that was a yuge victory for them over the Danes and 1 more point will secure them a birth in the 2nd round. I have a very close friend who is Finnish so I have a soft spot for them and I hope they go far.

Turkey v Wales 11 AM DFO – Baku (dirty UEFA money). Both teams looked very mediocre in their first tilts with Turkey parking the bus in hopes of Italy being old Italy and not being able to score. The second half of that game Italy ran all over them and put 3 behind them. The Welsh eked out a draw with the Swiss Albanians and probably though that was a winnable match.

Is Gareth Bale finally on the downward trajectory for his career? It seemed like he was just sort of hanging around Madrid and wasn’t getting a run out to see if he still had skilled. The headbutter didn’t like him, his teammates didn’t like him due to his phobia of learning Spanish, and the media didn’t like him. Howevah he could have money fights and golf everyday. If his decline is indeed here then this would be his last kick at the cat with his fellow countrymen and he needs to show up. I do think that as the talent pool in Wales is a bit thin that he will play on until he is 40 if he chooses to do so. He is kind of like the Welsh Jay Cutler.

Italy v Switzerland 2 pm DFO – Rome. Italians looked good against the Turks last week as they aren’t the defensive minded team like we have been used to for 30 years. Switzerland is always hanging around, and you would think that they should progress if they get a result here or versus Turkey.

While conquering foreign lands it appears Cecil Rhodes can also prognosticate on the futbol. He is leading the way with 9 pts while Balls and Decilitre have 3 at the back of the pack.
