I am currently reading Christopher Moore’s new book, Anima Rising. It is the only book of his that I have not finished. I have no idea what I’m going to do when I finish it.

Current Events
This was a nice short week for me as I took Tuesday off work on top of the Memorial Day holiday. I really cannot wait until I am retired. Not working is very nice.
I have now added a SECOND jester’s puppet on a stick to accentuate just how ridiculous things are at work. I hope someone appreciates the humour.

Sports Update
The most important tournament in all sports rolls on. I speak, of course, of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. We have a rematch of last year’s Stanley Cup Final with the Edmonton Oilers facing the Florida Panthers. Sure to Gary Bettman being an International Disgrace, the series doesn’t start until Wednesday. Considering the Oilers wrapped up their series Thursday night and Florida had already clinched, that’s almost a week without playing. We’ll see if they can get their groove back…

Goals Update
Since today is the last Saturday of May, I’m going to take advantage and provide the five-month update on where I am:
GOLF GOALS: Lower my Handicap Index to less than 21, Shoot an 18 hole score of 89 or better, Win a tournament, and finish in the top three of my club championship.
UPDATE: My Handicap Index started the year at 26.7. It is currently at 25.3. It is interesting how my mindset has changed. Scores that used to be “good” are now “not good enough”. On the bright side, I am improving and headed in the right direction.
FITNESS GOALS: Do one NFL Combine Bench Press Rep (235 lbs), Get a PR of 300 in Squat, and run 2 miles in less than 23 minutes (Army standard for my age).
UPDATE: I did not start the workout program as planned. Therefore, my new PR attempts will be delayed. Again. Twice.
WORK GOALS: Get 5 non-performers to either quit, retire, or transfer, Get 3 mentees promoted, and institute a company-wide cost-saving measure.
UPDATE: 2 non-performers are gone and 1 mentee got her promotion. 1 other mentee just got selected for a promotion, so I’ll count it. The cost-saving measure is in the process of being implemented with some hesitation from upper management to be overcome. However, I am confident that I will succeed. I won’t claim it yet.
INTELLECTUAL GOALS: Read 5 Christopher Moore books, create a 7 episode minimum series of fiction, and do a creative visual project.
UPDATE: The first two are done and dusted. DJ TAJ, Brick, and I have met for lunch and have started working on our collaboration. It is going to be a lot of fun.

I’ve received two thank you cards from a ton of managers, including the department director, twice. I have still not gotten one interview yet. I don’t want to go back to my normal job when this rotation ends in a month. Part of the problem is that a measure to keep a bunch of people from being laid off also meant filling more senior vacancies that I could’ve filled. Union shops can be a pain in the ass sometimes.
Anyway. I finally started losing weight again, but I tapered off from being full vegan this week. So I jave added pounds that will also need to go. My brother has been working out and is much healthier than I am having not done anything physical. But I will.
