So, the Clone function is borked and I can’t use the same format as before. Therefore, you get a stripped-down version of the Open Thread. DO SOMETHING, CONGRESS!!
Golf was fun today. It was fucking freezing at 6:30 AM, when we started, but it warmed up nicely as the day went on.
I am currently watching the replay of the Canada-USA women’s curling bronze medal match. Totally missed the DFO discussion/shit-talk on the morning thread. I hope imaginative wagers were placed and someone had to go to a strip joint.
Taco Bell has new menu items that I want to try. Maybe for late lunch/early dinner.
Okay, my ass has GOT TO GO. Enjoy these awesome pictures that 2Pack has graced us with. As a thank you, I plan to send him a care package of Mexican goodies. EXCESO DE SODIO!

Just let my dog out and he chased four deer out of our yard. He trots in like he’s done something and I told him “they’re starving* and you’re about to go inside, get a treat, and sleep on a bed while they try to find an open space between the old snow to sleep in before the blizzard comes in tomorrow. I hope you’re proud of yourself.”
He seemed pretty pleased with himself.
*tried getting in more corn for them tonight, but turns out I’m not the only softie in the area and the store in out, with nothing new expected until after the blizzard clears. Hope they like birdseed.
Maybe they like dog treats.
Speaking of snow . . .
Here are the San Gabriel Mountains looming over Los Angeles this morning, with SoFi Stadium and the Intuit Dome in the mid-ground, viewed from the 105-E freeway. The big peak is (I believe) Mount Baldy.
Someone was at the airport!
Ha ha I always am I live right by it!
I got back in L.A. a week ago. I was out this morning getting a smog check and renewing my car registration. If you and anyone else want to meet up at an L.A. restaurant (I made some suggestions on Slack) I’m up for it this week, I’m gone again for a month on Thursday. Northwoods maybe?
The BrickMobile has 357,000 miles on it and it passed its smog check with perfect numbers. It got a new cooling system yesterday (its second full replacement), new O2 sensors, new spark plug wires, a new ignition switch, and a new multi-function switch. That last item is the turn signal lever but it controls and/or passes a lot of auxiliary circuits. As you can see, I’m very excited about shit like this.
(NOTE: The distance from the Earth to the Moon is 238,900 miles)
Pretty sure smog could pass a smog test under 2026 EPA standards.
Tonight is the big closing gig at the arena in Verona. Should be good.
Fair Verona? Will there be sufficient balconies?
I hope no light breaks any of the windows yonder.
Tybalt’s a dick.
Nope. Stadium seating only. Those 9th century architects didn’t think of everything.
Watching S5 of ‘Shoresy’
Highly recommend.
“Fuck you Cory. Your mom sticks so many toys up her butt I call her Anal Fissure Price.”
60 degrees yesterday, an inch of snow now.
February sucks.
Talk about wild mood swings
We’re getting about 2′ tomorrow into Monday. Just hoping to keep the power. Lowratio without his night light is a fucking nightmare.
Tie him up in the backyard. He’ll manage.
“Must be nice”
D. Favre
Thank you Sir.
Shall we have another?
Just got back from Casa Bonita, AMA
was it worth it?
It was definitely overpriced but also worth it. Especially for the kids.
What is the capital of Assyria?
Assur, but I can’t be assure
Surely, you can’t be Assyrius?
How was the food?
Chips and queso were good, as were the sopapillas. The burrito was just fine. Mezcal margarita was solid.
I just got back from Coyote Flaco in Mansfield, CT. AMA.
Do the bartenders dance on top of the bar?
No, but Mrs. Horatio has danced on the actual bar from the movie Coyote Ugly.
That was a memorable evening.
Is it true the city is named after Jayne?
No. No it is not.
So I went to mass tonight at the church i hate, but my wife loves and i just shut up.
so the sermon was about taking time away from your phone, and they linked it to the first book of Genesis
which was unbelievably stupid
then they sang way too many songs and i walked out of there pissed
stupid church
Indeed. I entered à church for the second time in my life last weekend. I don’t think I’m missing anything.
Just look at how much happier Homer was staying home. It was his nag of à wife who ruined it.
THe other church, one I’ve been going to for 30 years, is more traditional and just easier to digest.
Gets a lot easier when you accept that there is no God.
At least not one of the thousands written in books or on stones by men wishing to control others. There could very well be a god. I highly doubt he cares who we fuck or what animals we eat or even if we wear mixed fabrics.
Probably wouldn’t give detailed instructions on the slave trade to his prophets, either. Like why would a god care so much about that?
Is it too late to add this to tomorrow’s thread
I fished here yesterday and these reef fish made me look like an asshole. Probably to be expected since the off-Hawaii ocean is not a calm freshwater lake.
They call it ‘fishing’, not ‘catching’.
I missed the request line yesterday but feel obligated to post this: https://youtu.be/CN0w5QgHdEY?si=-7ZUA-nExyaW2J8E
Mustaine wrote this specifically to be a hockey song. And even more specifically, for the Coyotes. (He wanted to replace Gary Glitter’s “Rock and Roll Part II [that’s good]). Even before the Metallica documentary people wanted to know “who won” their break up (that’s bad). Turned out they all suck, especially Dave “I support ‘Rick ‘man on dog’ Santorum’ Mustaine.
Anyways, hockey songs, here ya go!
Woohoo!
You can always add things later to Request Line – sometimes I do it a full month after the fact.
Former Catdinal Rondale Moore shot himself in the head. 25 years old.
That’s how bad it is to be drafted by the Catdinals.
Well he’s got 8 other lives to make up for it.
(a cardinal is a bird not a cat)
Sir, this discussion is about catdinals. Please try to keep up.
We’ve got a whole housefull of love going on!
All my favorite family is in my house!
Better smoke one in self defense.
Woo!!
Smoke one what? A Doobie or a brisket?
Yes.
So much execio sodio in Mexican snaxx.
Moar than CHEEZIES?
We don’t have them noticias so ignorance is bliss.
Canada might lose a few in hockey and curling but our cheezies will always be unrivalled in concentrated crunchy cheesed salt sticks.
Found a funny:
*Taylor Sheridan pulling a slot machine arm*
“Ok, we got… Kurt Russell… as a… Fire Chief in… Paducah, Kentucky”
Paramount Exec: Sure whatever, here’s $40,000,000.
All of our parents: Prairie of Flames is the best show on TV
I have gigs scheduled tomorrow and Monday, and federal jury duty Monday morning.
But I’m going to not-technically-Senorita Weaselo’s currently and I don’t have to drive since I now live by the Lrr, ruler of Omicron Perseid 8.
But apparently my debit card crashes the ticket kiosk. I blame Capital One for buying Discover because this shit never happened with my Mastercard!
The new one or the old one?
At some point I’ll text the former, let her know I took the apartment, let her know the Nox won the title.
Not let her know about the new lady, as I called the unofficial to play a party acting as the shadow contractor on behalf the former and that’s how we got back into each other’s friend orbit, and I don’t need her to think there was even an iota of skullduggery. Wouldn’t have dreamed of it.
I haven’t done anything today. Literally nothing. I made blueberry muffins this morning ( from a mix, does that even count?) This afternoon I made lazy ramen- one of those sodium bomb bricks, but I did doctor it up with some carrots, bell pepper, steak bites, and I plopped an egg in for the last minute or so. Sriracha. Easy peasy, but certainly not what anyone would call healthy. I don’t know what my problem is, but I’ve been less than motivated recently. I’m going to park my fat ass in the bathtub and try to soak myself into a better mood.
That’s slightly more than I did today, you’re all good!
The cold weather.
Yup, I’m torpid.
Winter is so much better when going outside is entirely optional. It’s snowing in Chicago right now, but only a bit below freezing, and I enjoyed walking to the bar and the store! Enjoyed!
Still jealous of your local Chicago bar. Wish I had the same arrangement here.
It’s a solid spot, no space at the bar tonight though which is bs
Oh winter is great when you can stay inside. No one denies that.
It’s the third week in a row when you’re scraping ice and snow and your face is frozen but your feet are somehow sweaty and even colder. That’s what makes you pray to the gods of global warming to hurry the hell up.
I’ve not shovelled snow once all year and we’ve had maybe 10 days total below freezing. Flowers are coming up and my trees are budding. In Canada, mind you. So I guess the praying worked. Thanks, Shell petrochemical corp.
When I lived here before I had to leave the house a lot and I took the bus or walked everywhere. Sucked.
No clones?

Woke up with a sore throat (we still doing phrasing?), and did not want to risk getting mandated and not be able to speak. It’s a pretty important part of my jorb.
I’m sitting on the floor in the room, watching YooToob. What’re yinz doing?
Did you not read my series?
Don’t ask questions you don’t want to hear the answers to.
I’m drtindk9ng freezer vodka to prep for the gold medal hockey game.
(sigh) Go Michigan. I guess.
There’s a divey tiki bar in the neighborhood that I’m finally going to check out tonight.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rv__tQt-QFQ&list=RDrv__tQt-QFQ&start_radio=1
Do tell!
It’s the Purple Orchid in El Segundo. Walked by it a few times since I moved here, but haven’t gotten around to checking it out. Word is that it’s fairly chill, couple of pool tables, as likely to play 70s/80s rock as tiki music. I shall investigate and report back!
Yeah Right did a pub crawl in El Segundo and we stopped there!
The drinks were great and I LOVED the music!
