Friday Morning Brain Farts/Carpenter Jorb

In lieu of actual prose, here’s some randomness to waste time while waiting for DJ 3000 to reload ~~munitions from last night’s operations~~ the playlist.

I semi-successfully managed to get through my first week as a 9-1-1 operator without causing any serious harm. So, that’s a plus. Somehow I’ve managed to help a stroke, diabetic episode, and a seizure successfully, but keep screwing up basic alarm calls. The latter are your typical ADT, Guardian Protection, etc. companies, and among our most frequent and easiest calls to handle. Because I’m me, these are the ones I continuously take far too long, and make much more complicated than necessary. Pray for my training partner, an ex-Marine who’s patience I know I’m testing. I also ALREADY have a reputation for getting the “weird” calls. Again, one week.

The PGA Championship started in Kentucky yesterday. Xander Schaufflele tied the record-low score for a round in a major at 62 yesterday. However, this is what everyone’s looking at:

World No.1, Masters champion, and massive betting favorite Scottie Scheffler is channeling his inner Eldrick Woods on and off the course by livening things up a bit this morning. UPDATE: He’s actually going to make his tee time of 10:41!

I’d like to begrudgingly thank the Ice Giants for sending the Vichy Whalers back to The Void where they belong last night. The Rangers seem they could be the verge of an LA Kings-esque Cup run of a decade ago. Florida and them would seven awesome games; they’d utterly prison-rape the Icetriots. Either option will be entertaining

Holy shit, it sucks to be an Edmonton Oilers fan this morning. What a thriller last night in Vancouver. The Ice Stillers of the West Coast (seriously, a third of the roster and management are former Penguins) would be a sleeper, but a not a major one. Same goes for the Oilers, who now need to win two in a row to make to the Western Finals.

Don’t know about the NBA, other than the Wolves dismantled the… Hardwood Donks(?) last night.

Anyway, discuss amongst yinzelves.

congrats on becoming a 911 ~~guy~~person.
Please take care of yourself when doing that jorb. Mrs GTD did that job for 20+ years. The shift work, 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off, became too much for her. Plus the grind of the shifts and then the shit you hear every day does not do wonders for you. Talk to someone about it, get out, do stuff that makes you happy as there are way too many people from where Mrs GTD works on leave for PTSD or moved to another department or just quit due to the job.

We’ve been well briefed, and I’ve talked to as many vets as I can. I’m aware of what this can do to someone, but you don’t know how you’ll actually react until it happens. I’ve also had that conversation with Princess, parents, and now yinz.

I very well could use this as a venting space at some point. We’ll see how it plays out. Thanks for the advice, and thanks to the Mrs’. work. Thanks to yinz all for letting share the space, too.

Just know that if you find yourself in a tight spot in Allegheny County, there’s a very real chance you may speak directly to me if you dial 9-1-1.

Yeah definitely vent here Buddy. You are there to help, providing a critical link. Thier problems however are none of your doing, so guard against letting them get to you. You truely are doing the lord’s work.
